“For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.” – Psalm 5:12
Have you ever wondered why some people seem to experience open doors, divine connections, and supernatural provision? The answer often lies in God’s favor—a grace that goes beyond human effort and qualification. Favor is God’s supernatural endorsement that elevates His children to places of influence, provision, and divine protection.
For intercessors, favor brings power and authority in prayer. For leaders, it opens doors of influence and wisdom. For new believers, it is a sign of God's love and direction on their spiritual journey.
What Is Favor?
In the Bible, favor is God’s unearned and undeserved grace that sets people apart for divine purposes. It is God making ways where there were none, qualifying the unqualified, and accelerating destinies.
From Genesis to Revelation, favor is the hallmark of God’s chosen ones:
Noah found favor and was saved from destruction (Genesis 6:8).
Joseph found favor even in a foreign land and rose from prison to the palace (Genesis 39:21).
Esther found favor before the king and was used to save a nation (Esther 2:17).
Mary was chosen to carry the Savior of the world because she was “highly favored” (Luke 1:28).
The Role of Favor for Intercessors, Leaders, and New Believers
1. Favor Empowers Intercessors
Intercessors stand in the gap for others, praying for God’s will to manifest. But prayer warriors need favor to see breakthroughs. When you walk in God’s favor:
Your prayers carry divine weight (James 5:16 – “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”).
You gain spiritual authority over situations (Luke 10:19 – “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions…”).
God gives you insight and discernment in prayer (Daniel 9:23 – “At the beginning of your supplications the command was issued…”).
2. Favor Elevates Leaders
As a Christian leader, you need more than skills and experience—you need favor.
Favor grants wisdom – Like Solomon, leaders need divine wisdom to lead (1 Kings 3:9).
Favor creates influence – Joseph’s leadership was recognized because of God’s favor (Genesis 41:39-41).
Favor attracts divine connections – David found favor with Jonathan and the people of Israel, leading to his kingship.
3. Favor Strengthens New Believers
If you are new to the faith, know this: God’s favor is upon you! It opens doors to spiritual growth (Acts 2:47), it protects you from the enemy’s attacks (Psalm 5:12), It draws you closer to God (James 4:7-8), among many wonderful things.
Conclusion
Though favor is an act of grace, we can position ourselves to receive it by living in obedience (Psalm 84:11), seeking God’s presence (Matthew 6:33), humbling ourselves (1 Peter 5:6), Praying and seeking God's favor (Exodus 33:13), and Declaring Favor Over Your Life (Proverbs 18:21).
God’s favor is not just for a select few—it is for every believer, intercessor, and leader who walks in faith. His favor will open doors, protect you, and position you for His glory. Are you ready to embrace His favor?
Let’s pray together:"Father, thank You for Your unmerited favor upon my life. Help me to walk in Your grace, trust in Your timing, and remain faithful in my calling. May Your favor surround me as a shield and open doors that no man can shut. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"
